Anti-racism, decolonization + liberation-focused therapy
My own life has been shaped by the complexity of being multicultural. I am the daughter of an Indigenous Mexica mother, whose lineage carries the wounds of colonization and intentional marginalization. I am also the daughter of an Irish-descended father—a people who were not always considered white, and whose racialization has shifted across generations. Navigating this terrain has been a lifelong practice of unpacking the nuanced dynamics of race, class, and gender within my own family and within myself.
About the Therapist
This lived experience informs my work with all three groups I support:
For BIPOC clients and descendants of colonization, I understand the weight of carrying ancestral wounds and navigating ongoing systemic oppression—not as a concept, but as something that lives in the body and the family line.
For clients seeking to understand their own privileges, I bring my own ongoing practice of accountability—knowing what it means to hold social privilege while remaining committed to undoing the systems that conferred it.
And for multiracial and multicultural clients, I offer the particular understanding of what it means to hold both marginalization and privilege in the same body, in the same family, without having to choose one side over the other.
Whichever your entry point, I offer a space where complexity is welcome.
And no part of you needs to be left at the door.
Counseling Philosophy
My commitment to this work is both personal and professional. I believe that by healing the wounds of colonization and oppression within ourselves and our families, we contribute to a larger movement of collective liberation. I am here to walk alongside you on that path with care and deep respect.
This is a space where you can bring all parts of yourself—your rage, your grief, your contradictions, and your hope. I am committed to a practice of cultural humility, meaning I will continually seek to understand your unique context, and I welcome your feedback as the expert on your own life experiences.
Therapy Approach
Healing from systemic and intergenerational trauma requires more than just talk therapy. My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and rooted in anti-oppressive principles. I integrate modalities that honor the mind-body connection, understanding that trauma is stored in the nervous system.
Depending on your needs, our work may include:
Somatic (Body-Based) Awareness: To help you recognize and shift how trauma and oppression live in your body.
Psychoeducation: To help you make sense of your experiences through a lens of historical and systemic context, reducing self-blame and unhelpful guilt / shame.
Relational & Attachment-Based Work: To heal the ways intergenerational trauma has impacted your ability to trust and connect with others.
Narrative Therapy: To help you separate your identity and self-concept from the legacies of oppression and reclaim your own narrative so that we can all help rebuild the world together.
